Need a face mask ASAP? No worries, you have everything you need

Thankfully there's been a major grassroots movement to wear masks in the US and Europe, which means there are plenty of resources to find a mask pattern that would suit you. Fabric and craft stores Joann provide two patterns for quick download. If these don't satisfy you, you may choose from a growing library of inspirations on Pinterest and YouTube. And if you have two left hands for crafts, you can even make a mask out of an old t-shirt, without even touching a needle and thread. You'll find the pattern below:

The first thing to consider is how permeable the fabric is. If you have very thin bandanas at home – these will allow your face not to sweat, but would also allow quite many droplets through. It's thus not the best solution. To strike a balance between face ventilation and limiting transmition, you may want to consider thicker cotton (thread count 180 or more), though there are even ideas for latex or faux leather masks out there – more fashionable and efficient, but may get too hot after a while.
