Baker's - The history
Baker's is an American supermarket chain operating in Omaha, Nebraska. It's owned by Kroger.
The first store was opened in Walnut, Iowa in 1927 by Abraham Baker. In Omaha-area, the first shop was launched in Bellevue, Nebraska in 1947.
Since 1971, the store was managed by two sons of Abraham who then in 1992 sold the chain to food wholesaler Fleming Companies, Inc. In 2001, The Kruger Company purchased the Baker's from Fleming.
Today, Baker's is run under the Dillons brand, which includes Baker's, Dillons, and Gerbes.
Baker's are typical supermarkets/food-drug stores but they're doing quite well for such a competitive market.
The company achieves great results by offering good-quality goods and different services, and also maintaining many savings programs and promotions, such as Free Friday Download, Baker’s Community Rewards or Fuel Program.
