During the great depression in 1931, Benett Haggen, Dorothy Haggen, and Doug Clark opened doors to their first store in downtown Bellingham, Washington. It was called the Economy Food Store. After a while, the company became popular and change its name to Haggen.
Early 2015 and late 2014, Haggen expanded its territory to Oregon, southern California, Nevada, and Arizona. Initially, they had 16 pharmacies and 18 stores, but the expansion to those areas lead to the increase of pharmacies to 106 and 164 stores. However, the company filed for bankruptcy and it was forced to sell some of its stores. By March 2016, Haggen had only 15 stores
