Homeland - The history
Homeland started operating as a separate store chain in 1987 after it was excluded from Oklahoma's division of Safeway. The name "Homeland" was adopted a year later, in 1988.
In 2002, the chain was bought by Associated Wholesale Grocers and then sold to its employees in December 2011. Despite different owners, the company was still running under the same name, "Homeland", all the time.
Now, Homeland is Oklahoma's largest grocery chain with 31 locations spread statewide. The company is headquartered in Oklahoma City.
