Quibi debut raises more questions than it answers

The app has been talked about for two years, top celebrities got involved in some 50 original shows. And still we have no idea if it will work. On its debut it didn't go without issues.

Derived from 'quick bites', this VOD platform's entire operating model seems clear even if you're not up to date with new technology. All shows on Quibi are based on the simple premise that a single episode has to last under 10 minutes. There, now you know it all. Well, not exactly. The other thing is: you can only watch these shows on your phone or – for the few people still using them – on an iPad.

Quibi's launch saw a long list of celebrities pushing the app on their social media, as per their contracts. After all, the platform started by Former Walt Disney Studios and DreamWorks Animation head Jeffrey Katzenberg and former eBay CEO Meg Whitman has seen investment to the tune of $1.8-billion already. So, obviously, names like Jennifer Lopez, Mark Whalberg or Reese Witherspoone come as no surprise.
