Check how coronavirus has changed your favourite store's operation

HyVee

Customer limits are implemented based on local policies and available space, while (depending on location) you may find one-way circulation introduced your store. New opening hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. throughout the week. Every day an hour before opening the stores welcome seniors, expectant mothers and people with underlying conditions that may increase their risk after COVID-19 infection. The store has also introduced a new free pickup service called Mealtime To Go, facilitating meal shopping.

ALDI

After initial lack of nationwide policy, Aldi opted for a universal change of opening hours, now between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. daily. Every Tuesday and Thursday the store opens 30 minutes earlier and the first hour is dedicated to customers of older age, expectant mothers and persons with conditions compromising their immune system. Limit of 5 customers per 1,000 square feet has been implemented, while one-way isles are introduced as an interim measure.

Meijer

While you can still buy fuel 24/7 at Meijer Express locations, all stores have switched to new hours effective March 20. Now they open at 8 a.m. and close at 10 p.m., while the dedicated hour for seniors and persons with chronic illnesses is between 7 and 8 a.m. every Tuesday and Thursday. You may also expect additional protective equipment installed and bans on reusable bags or beverage containers returns.

Walmart

Most of the chain's stores are now open from 7 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., with an hour reserved for seniors (60+) every Tuesday before opening. Some stores were previously open 24 hours or until midnight, although closing times vary by location. Walmart is also offering home delivery, curbside pickup and ins-tore pickup services for non-grocery shopping – all services limiting the exposure of customers and free, subject to conditions.
