Why avoiding family gatherings this Easter may be crucial

While many of us simply cannot imagine not embracing our closest friends and relatives this Easter, it's not just enough to avoid going to church, parades or egg hunts. Even meeting with your family can be devastating for the coronavirus community spread, as these cases prove.

In most states mass events are cancelled anyway, though some parts of the country are still sticking to their traditional gatherings, against federal guidelines and sometimes even against local law. But avoiding public spaces isn't the only piece of social distancing we should implement. The same goes for more intimate and presumably indispensable elements of Easter: family gatherings.

It might even seem cruel, but it's for everyone's sake. Traditional Easter celebrations include meeting numerous people, both family members and friends, neighbours and sometimes even co-workers. This means dozens of possible infections within a single community if just one person carries the virus without showing symptoms or ignores potential warning signs.
