A National Academy of Sciences committee ran the numbers and it doesn't seem COVID-19 is going away as weather improves. Those hoping Spring would change the battle have to wait for further studies.
It was mid-February when President Donald Trump assured governors and his voters at the New Hampshire rally that April would bring an end to the pandemic. “A lot of people think that goes away in April with the heat – as the heat comes in. Typically, that will go away in April,” he told the nation's governors. “Looks like in April, you know in theory when it gets a little warmer it miraculously goes away,” was the rally version.
While these claims were quickly dismissed by the CDC as possible manipulation, Trump may have had some information to back up his claims. A fresh Rapid Expert Consultation report by a committee of the National Academy of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine suggests temperature and humidity have some impact on the virus.
