Coronavirus tip: Washing groceries is a good idea, generally

Whatever you buy, consider it possibly contaminated. Now it's a matter of how you treat it to be safe after leaving the store and using it, especially when food is concerned.

We wear masks, disinfect and wash our hands, but every visit to the store is a risk. You don't know who had put the items on their shelf, who touched them since and whether your own hands were not dirty at some point. Without overdoing it with hygiene there are reasonable steps to take in order to minimise the possibility of contracting the novel coronavirus.

Let's assume that you've kept all the social distancing and sanitary guidelines during your shopping.  Now you're arriving home and the question at hand is: my groceries, are they clean? The default answer should be a vocal no. Always assume it might be contaminated, even if the risk may seem low.
