Petco - The history
In 1965, Petco was formed as a mail-order business selling veterinary supplies. The company over the years has evolved and it is now selling pet products, some type of animals and services. Leonard Green & Partners and TPG Capital did acquire the company.
Over the years the company has adopted ‘Think Adoption First” as its philosophy. The philosophy encourages the adoption of animals. In 2005, the company stops the sale of large birds after signing an agreement with PETA. Petco has never sold any dogs and cats.
