Northgate Market - The history

Northgate Gonzalez Markets is a chain of family-owned supermarkets in Southern California.

Their history begins back in 1980 when Miguel Gonzalez Reynoso decided to start a business in Anaheim, California and opened a small, a 2,500-square-foot store.

The first store took over space formerly occupied by a market called Northgate and, at that time, the family couldn't afford to change the sign, so they kept the name. Now, the family thinks it was a good decision: "We came to think of Northgate as the door of opportunity for us, coming from the south," said Gonzalez Reynoso whose family hails from Mexico's Jalisco state.

The stores offer a variety of food products, such as grocery items, bakery products, meat and poultry products, seafood, and vegetables.

Apart from selling everyday products, the Northgate Markets specialties are the truest ingredients imported from Mexico.
