C-Town - The history
The history of C-Town starts back in 1975 when the company was founded. Usually, the story begins with the opening of one shop, a big success and shows us the gradual expansion of the business. C-Town's story is slightly different.
From the beginning, the company's approach to opening shops was different than other independent, family-run companies. The plan was, rather than opening shops progressively, to open many stores in the confined area at the same time. The new C-Town's shops were mostly replacing old, suburban, abandoned stores.
The advantage of economy of scale helped the company to maximize the profit and minimize the costs. The strategy has definitely worked out well, as currently, C-Town has around 200 shops only in New York, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Connecticut and it became the fifth biggest store in NY urban area.
