Stater Bros - The history
In 1936, Stater Bros began when Leo and Cleo Stater established a store in Yucaipa, California. The company steadily grew and expanded and by 2013, there were 166 stores. The company made history in 2005 when it was listed in the Fortune 500. It became the very first recognizable California inland-empire company to be recorded. The company headquarters started the construction of a 2-million square foot facility in 2007. The facility was set up at the International Airport of San Bernardino, previously known as Norton Air Force Base.
The construction made California’s biggest distribution supermarket. The current CEO of the company Jack H. Brown and Pete Van Helden is the chief operations officer. The former Chief Operation Officer and president of the company, Jim Lee, retired in 2013. The declaration of his death was made after his induction into the Hall of Achievement of California Grocers Association Educational Foundation. The organization slogan is “Where you Always Get More…For Less.” Stater Bros Markets has been recognized for hosting the Stater Bros. Route 66 Rendezvous classic car cruise since 1990. Nevertheless, the event was canceled until further notice because of the bankruptcy of the city of San Bernardino.
