Dyson - The history

Dyson was founded in 1993 by Sir James Dyson, who remains its chief engineer and chairman. Since introducing its first cylinder vacuum cleaners, its product range has expanded to include cordless vacuum cleaners, hand and hair dryers, lamps, cooling and heating fans, and humidifiers and air purifiers. Dyson exports from the UK to 75 countries around the world. It also holds 8,000 patents registered worldwide. It makes intelligent, spatially aware devices that harness the power of hardware and software and improves existing solutions.

In 2016, Dyson will have a turnover of more than $3 billion and will sell 13 million products worldwide, an annual growth rate of more than 25%. By 2020, it plans to increase employment levels to more than 12,000 employees. The company's turnover is forecast to grow to more than $7 billion with sales of 25 million units.

Dyson sells over 90% of its products outside the UK. Its biggest markets are the US and Japan
