Save Mart - The history
Save Mart Supermarkets is an American grocery store chain. It is also known as The Save Mart Companies (TSMC).
The first First Save Mart store was opened in Modesto, California on January 17, 1952, by Michael Piccinini and Nicholas Tocco.
As for now, the company operates 214 traditional and price impact stores under a few banners such as Save Mart, Lucky, FoodMaxx, S-Mart Foods, and Maxx Value Foods.
The stores are mostly located throughout Northern/Central California and Northern Nevada with the headquarter still in Modesto, California.
On November 27, 2006, Save Mart announced that they signed an agreement to acquire 132 Albertsons stores in California and Nevada which they officially began operating in February 2007.
Currently, there are over 14 000 people employed whose biggest everyday commitment is to deliver their customers a wide variety of local products.
