P.C Richard and Son - The history
Formed in 1909 when Pieter Christian Richard, a Holland immigrant opened a hardware store in Brooklyn. His son AJ Richard was born in that same year and spent his entire childhood helping the business to grow. AJ Richard decided to drop out of school at the age of 14 years and focus his time and attention on helping the business to grow. By the age of 16, A.J. Richard expanded the business to include electronic irons.
To continue providing the best services A.J Richards decided to teach himself how to repair radios in 1929, just barely 20 years of age. In 1932, he expanded the Hardware Store to include toasters, washers, ranges, and radios. A.J took over as the company president after his father retired in 1947. By 1973 the company had 9 more stores.
Currently, the company has 66 stores in different parts of the country. As from 2012 the company has 2977 employees with Gregg Richards, the grandson to A.J Richards as the CEO. It generating over $1 Billion in terms of revenue.
