Dick's - The history
Founded by Dick Stack in 1948, when he was only 18 years old. Dick Stack used to work Army Surplus Store. He did quit his job after the owner called him stupid because of presenting ideas which could help his business grow. Dick went to his grandmother home feeling upset because of how he was treated.
His grandmother did provide $300 starting capital which he used to implement his idea and start a business. Due to his relentless work ethic, Dick’s store received much success and by 1958, he expanded his business into Dick’s Sporting Goods.
To date, the company has over 675 stores in different parts of the country. The company is currently being run by his son Ed Stack. Over the years, the company has continued to offer the best quality goods at affordable prices.
