Bass Pro Shops - The history
The history of Bass Pro Shops started back in 1971 when the company was launched by a young angler, Johnny Morris.
The first store was located on eight-square-feet of space in the back of Morris's father liquor store in Springfield, Missouri and it was selling only homemade bait and worms.
Because the store became very popular, it was soon registered as Bass Pro Shops. With time, the company grew and expanded its range to include products not only related to fishing but also other outdoor activities.
1977 turned out to be a breakthrough because it was then when Bass Pro Shops launched the first fish-ready complete boat motor and trailer package with the Bass Tracker.
And so since then, the company has been successfully opening new showrooms and stores, in which it offers not only the shopping itself but also other attractions, such as restaurants, bowling alleys, and even hotels.
In October 2016, Bass Pro Shops announced they signed a contract to acquire one of the company's biggest competitors Cabela's.
